From the Viking Age to modern Norway – experience Haugesund the way it was meant to be explored: from the sea.

Set out on an exclusive private journey through more than 1,000 years of Norwegian history, where the sea connects the Viking past with Norway today.

Your adventure begins right at the cruise terminal, where you will be welcomed by your local host and board Haugesund's electric city boat for the short journey across the harbour to the city centre.

Your first stop is The Viking Planet, where immersive technology, films and storytelling introduce you to the Viking Age and the history that shaped this region.

Then it is time to take to the water again.

Your private boat, will pick you up in the city centre for a scenic journey through the fjords and waterways south of Haugesund.

As you cruise, a light lunch will be served on board, allowing you to relax, enjoy your meal and take in the beautiful coastal scenery as you travel towards Avaldsnes.

The voyage takes you through the narrow and picturesque Røyksund, following waterways that have connected communities along the Norwegian coast for generations.

Along the way, you will pass Kårstø, one of Norway's most important energy and industrial sites. It provides a fascinating contrast to the Viking story: from a society whose wealth and influence were built on ships, trade and control of the sea routes to the modern Norway shaped by energy, technology and its continued connection to the ocean.

From here, the journey continues towards historic Avaldsnes, once one of the most important royal seats along the Norwegian coast.

At the Viking Farm, you will step back in time and experience how people lived more than a thousand years ago. Explore reconstructed Viking buildings, hear stories of everyday life, craftsmanship, voyages and traditions, and discover why Avaldsnes played such an important role in the story of Norway.

You will have approximately one hour at the Viking Farm before boarding the boat for the final voyage back to Haugesund.

«We opted to visit the Viking Farm and Planet Viking as a combo trip. It was really easy to book, a little hard to find the base where the experience ran from, but it didn’t take long once we spotted the signs from the dock. We had a visit from the mayor on our boat which was great (very nice chap!) he got us all rowing (metaphorically) while the trip took us down river to the village. Our Aussie / Norwegian guide was good fun, pointed out sites of interest along the way and made sure we all knew what was going on. The boat trip really added to the experiences. The Viking farm was Interesting….Axe throwing was an added bonus. Planet Viking made a good complimentary visit for further historical information. Make sure you know how to find the way back from the centre of town to your boat. We all enjoyed it and would recommend. Thank you!»

«A really informative trip to the viking farm, a great experience. Would highly recommend if you're in Haugesund.Jason was a brilliant guide for our trip with lots of stories and facts about the area on the way to the farm. The guide at the viking farm was very knowledgeable and obviously very passionate about viking history.....so go with all of your viking questions and you're sure to get an answer.»

«We went for the Viking Tour and had lovely Darleen as our tour guide ! Highly recommend the Viking Farm (you're gonna be greeted by a Viking to set you straight in the mood - the one we got was so knowledgeable and clearly passionate). Thank you to Darleen for her kindness and patience (we had a lot of questions lol). It's probably the easiest option... boat ride, insightful history lesson and digital museum ! If you're looking for a trip back in time, this is it !»

«To be honest we found this boat tour company by accident and brought the last 2 tickets not knowing what and where we were going. Omg what a great suprise we had, we visited a viking farm on a island wow what a great experience. Dreading the hill on our return but what another great suprise was the boat stopped in another location and we got to visit a very modern viking museum which was in the heart of the town. The guide from the boat company was extreme knowledgeable, extremely friendly and kind. 5 stars all round. I would highly recommend this boat trip for 2 of us it £185 i would say well worth it.»
