Small group! Guided hike to Himakånå (mini Trolltunga)

Join the locals! Discover the magic of Norway with the locals! Join our expert guide on an exhilarating hike to the awe-inspiring "Himakånå," an exclusive adventure with a maximum of 15 guests per group.

Your journey begins at the cruise terminal, where a comfortable bus or car transports you to Nedstrand, nestled in one of the fjords. As you wind through charming communities and breathtaking landscapes, your guide narrates the life and history of the Haugalandet people.

Upon reaching the quaint village of Nedstrand, immerse yourself in its cozy ambiance. We'll pick up our "Matpakke," a light Norwegian lunch, at a local grocery store before embarking on the hike to Himakånå, perched 357 meters above sea level.

The hike covers around 2.2 kilometers of a steep, gravel path. While an element of fitness is recommended due to the uneven terrain, our guides adapt to the group's condition, ensuring everyone's comfort. The hike takes approximately one hour each way.

At the summit, capture the breathtaking panoramic views—Himakånå is one of Norway's most popular "selfie spots." Here, we'll rest, savor our "matpakke," and absorb the stunning mountain and fjord vistas before descending to Nedstrand.

If you at some point decide not to hike, there are plenty of activities in and around Nedstrand, the bus driver will show you around.

Join us for a truly unique adventure, where you'll connect with the heart of Norway's pristine nature, history, and local culture. Cherish the memories of this unforgettable journey with the locals!

«Himakånå - The legend of the Troll Late in the day to review, however what a fantastic trip. The small group ended up being 4 so we went in a car and not mini bus. Our tour guide (Mateus?? Sorry if the name is wrong) could not fault his knowledge about Norway. He was entertaining and we found his knowledge on history, geology, politics and some so very interesting. The hike is hard, as very steep paths (gravel paths all the way to the top) but well worth the view when you get to the top. The story of the trolls is so lovely and he told it so well. He also walked with both couples as we walked at different paces and took some great pictures along the way of both of us. Packed lunch was most enjoyable too. On route back to the ship he gave us a little tour of Haugesund. We had the most amazing day and would highly recommend this trip.»

«Excellent day away from the crowds Our cruise stopped in Haugesund and we booked this small group tour to get away from the crowds. When we stepped off the cruise ship, the Viking Adventures hut was right by the exit of the ship, we checked in and pointed in the direction of our waiting guide, Matheus. There was only one over couple who had booked this tour, so it really was a small group and therefore became a really exclusive and personal experience. The drive to the start of the hike was around 50 minutes and Matheus kept us entertained by his superb knowledge of local culture, history, geography, geology and any other subject we thought to speak about. We stopped off at a local shop to collect our packed lunch and then drove to the start of the hike to Himakana. The hike is not technical as it is a gravel path all the way, though is steep in places. The views and the experience when we reached the top were simply stunning. Unlike a previous walk to Pulpit Rock, there are not crowds of people here, just the small group that we were with. It was a peaceful and serene experience and we were able to soak in the stunning views and eat our lovely packed lunch. Matheus gave us as much time as we needed whilst being conscious of the need to get us back to the cruise ship on time. As there was such a small group, we had time after the hike for him to show us briefly some other sights of Haugesund such as the National Monument. All in all, this was an absolutely brilliant day and we got to experience a genuine slice of the area, away from the crowds. Matheus was absolutely brilliant, was so knowledgeable about the area and really wanted to showcase is home town. A highly recommended trip.»

«View of a lifetime!! The hike was steep at times but the view at the end was worth it! I proposed at the top and she said yes! Excellent tour guides! Special thanks to Thor for capturing the beautiful moment!»

«Wonderful hike to Himakana with Viking Adventures in Haugesund We booked this tour as we disembarked our ship, as our tour had been cancelled by Princess! We were so pleased we did! We were taken by minibus (so much nicer than a 40 seater coach as on so many tours!) on a one hour drive through beautiful countryside to the path where our hike started, stopping first to pick up the picnic lunch provided by Viking, (a sandwich and bar of chocolate, with a bottle of water.) Our guides and bus drivers were absolutely charming and so helpful. The hike has two very steep sections, which can be slippery as they are made with chipped "blue metal" stones. We are both very fit and were able to hike at our own pace, and those who preferred a gentler walk, could take their time, as we climbed around 330metres in a short time frame on a 2.2 km hike to the top. We were lucky the weather was fantastic with clear, blue skies, and the views at the top, once we reached Himakana, were simply breathless. We enjoyed our picnic lunch at the top, and half an hour later started the hike down. I would like to compliment both guides, Vidar and Ern (his nickname as none of us could remember his real name!) who both looked after us so well. We were so pleased our other tour had been cancelled and we would really recommend Viking Adventures on this tour.»
