Join Captain Sig together with us on an unforgettable and amazing family tour from the Haugesund Cruise Port to Mortholmen, Karmøy, a historic fishing island recently revived by Sig Hansen and his wife, June. Sig is the star of Deadliest Catch and a proud son of Norwegian fishermen. We assume the kids will know his voice from the fishing boat named Crabby in the Disney Pixar film Cars 2.

This 4-hour excursion is packed with salt sea air, fun explorations and learning for kids and adults alike, and a taste of real Norwegian fishing heritage — perfect for families looking to explore off the beaten path.

🛥️ Boat Trip to a Hidden Island

Hop aboard for a scenic boat ride through the stunning coastline. Keep your eyes peeled for seabirds and sea life as we head toward the historic island of Mortholmen.(Approx 40 minutes)

🏝️ Captain Sig Hansen’s Island Full of Fishing Stories and Heritage

Step ashore and be met by Capt. Sig Hansen and explore Mortholmen’s charming buildings, once a thriving herring saltery. Breathe in the ocean air and the surrounding North Sea. Learn about life on the island 100 years ago and hear tales from Captain Sig Hansen’s adventurous life—from Norwegian roots to international fame on the Bering Sea.

🎣 Fishing Fun for Kids (and Adults!)

Children are invited to try their luck fishing from the quay with simple rods and bait, just like in the old days. There will be fun competitions, small prizes, and plenty of laughs. Parents are welcome to join in too!

🐟 Taste of Norway: Herring Sampling

Take a bite of history with a sampling of traditional Norwegian herring, served in simple but tasty local styles. A chance to try something new—and maybe surprising! Fishcakes for the kids. You can buy drinks at the site. There is also a shop selling Deadliest Catch souvenirs. 

🎒 Outdoor Exploration & Free Time

Families are free to explore the buildings and the island’s nooks and viewpoints, or simply relax by the sea. The setting is safe, scenic, and perfect for photos and memory-making. Before we head back to the cruise pier in good time before the cruise departs.

We also offer a full refund if the cruise ship, for any reason, does not arrive at the port, or if the arrival/departure time changes significantly and disrupts the tour.
